About the club

Based in the Southend area, at one of South East England’s finest leisure centre facilities, Clements Hall Leisure Centre, we are an active and welcoming club providing members of all levels the opportunity to play squash and racketball and socialise in a friendly environment.

We have approximately 100 members and hold regular competitions, leagues and social evenings throughout the year. We also have a weekly club night which runs every Tuesday from 7:10 pm – 9:10 pm where both members & non-members are welcome to join in. We also run a racketball league. If you would like to get fitter for squash we also hold Squashercise classes on Sunday Mornings 10:30.

For players who enjoy the competitive nature of competing against other clubs, we enter teams of varying levels into the Essex League.

Club history

Clements Squash Club's first AGM was held on Wednesday 18th June 1980. Originally our membership fees were set at £5 and club nights were played on Fridays. Over the years our club has hosted various social functions including summer barbeques, golf days & fundraising events. Our 24 hour squashathons have helped to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Since it's inception our club has always supported squash at County level. Our members continue to play for a number of individual competition titles. In 1983 the club purchased our exhibition cabinet which today still proudly displays our trophies. In its heyday the club had approximately 220 members, but by 1995 with the popularity of squash in decline, the club reported that membership had fallen to 107.

Today we still compete in the Essex league & our Tuesday night club nights are well attended. We have approximately 100 adult club members. Crucial to the club’s continued success has been the dedication of its members who give their time freely to the club. We remain thankful to those members for their continued Support.
